Wire Park plans ‘food hall’ for 2022 opening

Wire Park, a $60 million mixed-use development under construction off Barnett Shoals Road, will have Oconee’s first “food hall.”
Like a food court inside a mall, retail customers will be able to choose from different restaurants and eateries at The Grid. There will be an open-air courtyard and shade from steel beams that once served as the foundation for the now-removed roof.
After more than 50 years as a wire manufacturing plant, the aptly named 66-acre Wire Park will feature 130 residential units, expansive green space and 225,000 square feet of commercial, office and retail. Two of the biggest public draws include the Oconee County Library and a 28,710 square foot indoor baseball training facility.
